How to resize rings… temporarily!
JEWELRY HACK resizing a ring with dental floss!
These days we are all adapting to unique circumstances and I could not be more grateful for my Gemmy Girl Gang check-ins.
One subject last week was ring resizing and I had a “MacGyver”-like solution at the ready!
Pre-Covid, a client called me after arriving at an event wearing her new cocktail ring for the first time.
She was concerned her ring seemed loose after passing over her knuckle. I advised her to ask the host for string or dental floss, to wrap the backside of the band with it, and tie it off with a knot when the width seemed appropriate to secure it.
This hit the mark and kept her ring securely on her finger for the rest of the night!
Later, we added two small gold sizing beads on the inside of the shank to keep her ring more secure and upright on her finger.
If you recently purchased a ring online and it feels loose, this is a great temporary option until we are able to address such needs again.
