Circular Economy: How Reclaimed Jewelry Makes a Big Impact

As the world’s first art form, jewelry has always been circular - and it remains so today!

Among my recent projects are reimagined or reclaimed jewelry!

Women are looking into their jewelry boxes and finding pieces that are inherited, outmoded or in need of repair.

Recently, I helped a client reclaim a pendant and half-a-set of earrings - transforming them into diamond studs with earring jackets!

What is great about handmade jewelry is that it can be tailored to meet specific needs and also be uniquely distinct to the person who wears it.

In this case: earrings that are light to wear and can be fluidly worn with white gold, yellow gold and platinum jewelry!

REDISCOVERING WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE IN YOUR JEWELRY BOX

Just as we have an epiphany of “shopping our closet” and rediscover once-treasured dresses or trousers, the same can be true for our jewelry box!

Recently I found a gold chain that I had not worn in years and realized the reason why… I did not have anything to wear on it. The solution: a pendant with a removable bail to wear on this gold chain… and other necklaces too!

I chose a responsibly sourced pink tourmaline and set it in channel wire with a removable bail. This enables the pendant to be worn on pearl strands, as well! Another option is to “nest” a gemstone within the chain, as seen with this green tourmaline.

Below is a selection of ready-made pendants designed by women that can be worn on multiple gold necklaces!
